So, what is it and how does it work? The deductible is an amount of money that you have agreed to pay in the event of a claim before your home insurance coverage began. When you purchased the insurance policy, you determined how much you were willing to pay out of your own pocket in the event of a loss. That’s your deductible. We help you cover some of that risk by paying up to $500 towards your deductible.

How does it work?

Let’s say that when you purchased your policy, you selected a $1,000 deductible. Now, you are involved in flood loss, and it’s going to cost $20,000 to repair your home. You are responsible for the first $1000 in repairs, and the insurance company will pay the remaining $19,000. In other words, when you receive your payment check, $1000 will have been deducted from it. That’s exactly why they call it a deductible! Should I call my insurance company prior to calling a restoration company?

Usually not. In many cases an insurance company will consider it a claim against your policy even if you don’t receive any kind of payout. Every time they go out, they count it as a claim. In most cases it is wise to have us take a look at your damage first.

We can make sure your property is eligible for a claim before you call your insurance company. If there is damage, we will also be happy to meet your insurance adjuster and make sure the specifications claim are correct.

Do I honestly need help handling my claim?

My insurance claim shows line items for Actual Cash Value and Replacement Cost Value. What’s the difference?

Most insurance policies cover full replacement value. (If they don’t we will fight for you that they do) Typically after you file your claim you will receive the first of two checks from your insured, which is the amount of the Actual Cash Value (how much the repaired damage is worth today). The insurance company then will with hold what is called depreciation from the initial check and will pay it once the work has been completed by Restoration Genie.

While this rarely happens (we estimate using the same program), if it does, we guarantee to repair per the insurance companies specifications and pricing, so that your only out-of-pocket expense would be your deductible if it’s over $500.
